Our child has suddenly found her voice - and it's damn loud. She can be playing along, happy as can be, trying to rip the rattle from the permanent holder on the exersaucer and will all the sudden SCREAM AT THE TOP OF HER LUNGS!
Imagine the sound of four hundred fire whistles, raise the pitch to 5-month old squeaky-squawky level, and grind some glass under your fingernails all at the same time. That's what it sounds like.
Then she will innocently look up at us and break into an enormous Elizagrin.
"Yeah, *I* did that. Ha. Ha. Ha."
What IS this???? Is this normal? Is this a tantrum? Do we ignore it? Because I have to tell you, it's REALLY hard not to laugh at this stuff. By laughing are we encouraging more screaming? Are we creating a 6-month old screaming monster baby by laughing at her? Sometimes we scream back, which she LOVES, and it becomes this wonderful cacophony of child-adult scream-blasting. The dog howls in harmony and the cat hisses. It's beautiful.
I wonder if we could market this stuff . . . .
Peace, till next
