Top Designer Receives Tickets for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
Denver, CO (January 3, 2007) “Are you ready to be discovered?” is the theme of the first-ever fashion design competition at Tamarac Square. Modeled after the hit reality television show Project Runway, The Fashion Project at Tamarac Square will feature 20 Colorado designer hopefuls in four weeks of design challenges during April 2007. com to get an application or call 303.745.0055 to request an application. Designers must submit their application and portfolio with three to five sketches and three to five pictures of their work by March 7, 2007.
Select designers will be asked to participant in an audition on March 15 and 16. Tamarac Square will announce the top 20 designers who will participate in competition during an opening ceremony at the center on March 28. During the event, competitors will be introduced to modeling students and will be able to select which model they will work with throughout the competition. In addition, the first design challenge will be unveiled to designers.
Designers will have one week to create a piece for the first fashion show held at Tamarac Square on Wednesday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m. Participants will be given vouchers to local fabric stores to assist them in purchasing fabric and materials needed to create their fashions. The outfits will be showcased during the weekly runway fashion show will evaluate overall construction of the pieces, creativity and how accurately designers adhered to the design challenge. Each week, the judges will select a “designer of the week” who, along with their model, will receive a prize. In addition, all pieces from that week’s challenge will be displayed at Tamarac Square throughout the competition. Shoppers will vote for their favorites and the designer and model chosen as the “shoppers favorite” will also receive a small prize each week. At the end of the competition, the designer with the highest combined score will win the grand prize - a trip for two to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park in New York City complete with a voucher for two airplane tickets to New York, a two-night stay in a junior suite at the Bryant Park Hotel and an IMG fashion voucher which is an invitation to attend two designer’s runway shows during Fashion Week.
