The first snow of the year woke Elizabeth at 6 am. This is the one day of the week I have a chance (if the kids sleep in) to sleep in later than 6:30. Ferpetesake. How can SNOW wake a child who normally sleeps till NINE?
I'm moving ahead with a schedule for the Adirondack climbs. 46 mountains, now that's a LOT OF MOUNTAINS, but I'm setting a goal of climbing them all.
I need your help, though. I KNOW have at least 46 friends I would like to see more often, including YOU. I am going to be posting a mountain schedule soon, listing the 46 peaks I'll be climbing, and I am inviting YOU to join me. Each mountain listing will include number of miles, altitude and complexity of the climb. I'm going to begin in May, so the first batch of climbs will be summer hikes. I will continue straight through the winter, too - but only people who have winter climbing experience or are in really good physical condition should join me on those climbs. There's no way I could climb THIS winter, but I'm hoping that after an entire summer of climbing, I will be in shape to handle next winter.
You're welcome to choose an easy hike or a difficult one. If you get tired, I will stop and wait for you. If I get tired, I will wrap myself around your ankles and force you to wait for me. None of these climbs are going to be timed. It's all for personal enjoyment, so don't feel like you have to be a superhero athlete to join me. ANYONE can join me. (The most difficult peak is rated a 7 out of 10, and is 18 miles round trip)
Some of the hikes will be scheduled for a full weekend, and I'll probably tackle at least two mountains on those trips. So if you'd like to spend a weekend camping with me and the bears in the Adirondacks, sign up for a weekend hike. All I ask is that you PICK AT LEAST ONE and climb with me. We'll make a fun memory of it.
I promise, it'll be fun.
I PROMISE.
And once we accomplish this goal, we'll advance to the 14 peaks. ;-) (With that challenge, Brian is doing the Happy Mountain Dance)
